The first Europeans in the Moluccan archipelago were the Portuguese in 1511, which supplied all of Europe with nutmeg from the Banda Islands. Since then, nutmeg has been present everywhere, in the production of perfumes, soaps and ointments as well as the preparation of cold meats and of course potatoes. Muscade nuts are rich in nutrients, such as vitamins B and C, calcium and iron. It is also considered to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. However, it is important not to consume it in large quantities, as it can cause side effects such as headache and drowsiness.
